History Of The Internet
The protocol to send and receive data over the ARPANET was not suitable to connect multiple computers to this network and a need to develop a new protocol was felt immediately. Then came TCP/IP on the scene and was adopted as the official protocol to be used for ‘packet-switched networks’ and the year was 1983.
With the arrival of TCP/IP there was tremendous growth in the networks, both in the ARPANET as well as NSFNET.
